Page one domination for local small businesses! What small businesses can gain by leveraging off the power of web 2.0.
It’s amazing to me how local newspapers continue to ignore the value and potential of the internet. With that being said, how does the solopreneur, the one struggling to keep his doors open, the local small business with only a website to broaden their customer base?
The answer to that can simply stated as leverage. When you are up against competitors that have bigger budgets and brands, you have to use available resources to your advantage.
You see, most local small businesses think of online marketing from a global perspective, rather than localizing it. Trying to compete on a local level is far easier than doing it globally.
Due to the misinformation and the proliferation of many in-house seo companies the soloprenuer can now compete and actually win in a local niche market. While those companies are fighting the trends and are focusing only on getting the number 1 rankings, this leaves an opportunity to focus on taking over the entire page.
How can this be, you may ask? In today’s high technology-driven environment, it is possible to have an entire network of mini-sites strategically linked together giving you a boost in search engine rankings and pushing other sites off the page., but do not limit yourself to that one website when it comes to search engine rankings.
With the onsluaght of social media such as facebook, linkedin, wiki-pages and a myriad of other web2.0 properties, local website marketing has gone to a whole nother level. These sites are authority sites with the search engines and once you hook up with them by placing relevant content on them and having a backlink to your site it helps to boost your site.
As good as this may sound, there are still boundaries that must be observed. Web 2.0 is a two way marketing method and can hurt your reputation as well as enhance it.
Using a good call to action is the best way to move prospects thru your marketing funnel. As they progress from one step to the next they are continually qualifying themselves to receive more without you having to do more.
For a local small business to succeed online and take over page one they need to use the best of the web and brand themselves every step of the way. This will not only build trust and name recognitiion locally, but it also does not go away after a week or two.
Unlike traditional methods of advertising and marketing you do not have to worry about your content disappearing. It is ever present with a bit of promotion and support.
The number one ranking one the first page is simply not enough. You need to focus your work on getting multiple front page listings because the more you are seen on the front page the more likely you are to get a sale.
Knowing how to access such free tools as Google’s external keyword tool can help uncover the secret to dominating their local markets by researching geo targeted keywords for their specific products or services. This can give you multiple top 10 rankings for multiple keywords because you are focusing your efforts on keywords that are being searched locally.
So, for any small to medium sized business looking to improve their local website promotion know that you can now take over the entire page almost effortlessly. Do this and watch as your local market share begins to swell and you and your brand become a house hold name.
