Local internet marketing secrets have been exposed to the point that the owners understand more about marketing online than at any time before. Tons of small business owners are familiar with placing classified ads in the newspaper, hit and miss television advertising, and sometimes off and sometimes on radio advertising. They realize the importance of having a presence in their local yellow pages. But few small business owners understand internet marketing strategies. In the late ’90s it was good enough to just have a website, but if internet marketing is going to be effective, having more than a website is definitely required.
Having a website is of course the first step to a successful internet marketing campaign even if that website does not have the best content. The reason for that is because the domain name will begin to age and the search engines give more credibility to domains as they age. That is why some people actually buy and sell expired domains or even have a domain that has nothing but adsense on it. The website should be easy to navigate, decent to look at, and optimized with relevant keywords to help push the rankings in the search engines. This becomes even more crucial when done on a local level because approximately 40% of the searches result in purchases made anywhere from five to twelve weeks later. If your website is optimized better than your competition, most of time it will be, you will have a higher ranking and stand a better chance of getting the visitor.
Now that your website is up, it’s time to spread the word and let other people know. Getting website traffic has been one of the more difficult things to do for a vast number of people. As you continue to listen to the gurus and experts tell you that you have to do article marketing because it is content that the search engines love and content is king so you better get to writing. Then some other “Joe Blow” comes along and tell you that you should do press releases to get to the front page of Google. Then when you think you have it all figured out here comes a nice pretty face staring at you on and telling you that you can make a gazillion dollars if you start using video marketing in your arsenal. After-all it is the biggest thing to hit the web since Al Gore invented the internet. Now hold on because just when you thought you were king of the hill and you knew you were on you way to finally realizing your dreams of becoming financially free and sipping your favorite drink at the beach. Tweet tweet, yep, that’s right, you were hit by the hottest thing since the electric oven, Twitter. I mean, this thing is so hot that even Oprah was talking about it and messing the words up. So you just knew that you had to be there too if you were gonna finally make some waves in this online marketing thing. Is your head spinning yet?
Unfortunately many small business owners, find themselves in this exact cycle and and couldn’t get off even if the wheels stopped turning. So they find themselves moving in all directions and going nowhere. The real secret to internet marketing success is to find one area of this vast niche, kinda like a sub-niche, master that area and outsource the areas that you are not totally comfortable with. Remember, if you do not have confidence in your self it is hard for others to have a great deal of confidence in you as well.
Take a moment to evaluate your business. Is it working for you? If you don’t think so, perhaps you would benefit from hiring an internet marketing consultant or a coach. The consultant can give you a professional opinion on how you can improve your business.
Why spend your time with tedious marketing details when you can let a professional handle it? If your business isn’t performing well or you want to turbo-charge your internet marketing, you might want to consider utilizing the services of an internet marketing consultant.
